CZ-USA CZ 75 SP-01 Handgun

I was so impressed with the performance of my CZ 75B Stainless Limited Edition at a USPSA match a few weeks ago, that I decided to purchase a CZ 75 SP-01 for dedicated competition use so that the Stainless LE doesn't get abused (it's too pretty for that!).  I know that the most desired SP-01 is the "Shadow" version that doesn't have a firing pin block, but I am 100% satisfied with the "B" version modified with Cajun Gun Works and CZ Custom Shop parts.  I plan on using this new gun in USPSA's Production Division and in IDPA's Stock Service Pistol (SSP) Division. I will most likely alternate back and forth with the EAA/Tanfoglio pistols that I've been using, as I still really like those guns as well.  It's just nice to have a little variety in the action pistol sports. ;-)

USPSA Action Pistol Match 4/25/2015

This weekend's USPSA action pistol match at the Amarillo Rifle and Pistol Club went very well for me.  I was again shooting my EAA/Tanfoglio Witness Elite Match in .40 S&W in the Limited Division despite having malfunctions with the gun in the last several matches.  I've finally got the gun running well enough that I didn't have any malfunctions throughout the entire match, and I felt like my performance was pretty good as well (placed 2nd out of 8 total).

Update: After listening to the video with headphones on, I realized that I actually hit the steel activator at the end of the first stage all three times.  It just didn't fall until the third shot.  That makes me feel better, as I thought I missed it two times at that close range. :-)

USPSA Action Pistol Match 04/18/2015

I decided to try my luck in USPSA's Production Division this weekend with my CZ-USA 75B Stainless Limited Edition at the Patriot Outdoors range in Clovis, NM. It was windy as hell, but it was really nice to get through an entire match without any malfunctions or brain farts. :-)  I had a little trouble in the 3rd stage with all the steel plates, but I feel like I did okay (placed 9th out of 30 total). It was also my first time shooting a Texas Star.

IDPA Action Pistol Match 04/12/2015

Video from today's IDPA action pistol match at the Amarillo Rifle and Pistol Club in Amarillo, TX. Everything was going smoothly for me until I choked and screwed up the last stage. :-)  Even with that screw up, I don't feel like I did too bad (placed 4th out of 17 total).

"Outlaw" Action Pistol Match 04/04/2015

Video from another "outlaw" action pistol match at the ShooterReady.biz outdoor action pistol range in Canyon, TX. This was a combination of USPSA rules, IDPA scoring, with a lot of steel targets thrown in.  I entered in two different divisions at this match. I shot in "Open" division with my EAA/Tanfoglio Witness Elite Match in .40 S&W (normally used for USPSA Limited Division), and I shot in "SS/ESP" division with my EAA/Tanfoglio Witness Limited Pro in 9mm (normally used for IDPA ESP Division). I placed 2nd in Open and 3rd in SS/ESP.  It was interesting to me that I was only 5 seconds faster raw time with my "open" gun, but I was much more accurate with it since my adjusted time was around 30 seconds faster.

USPSA Action Pistol Match 03/28/2015

I forgot to post this USPSA action pistol match video on my blog last weekend. I started out rocking the first two stages by shooting all "alphas" (center zone hits), but then had some malfunctions that were magazine related (I was mistakenly loading one too many rounds in them), and then had a brain fart and a miss. Despite the problems, I still managed to come in 3rd out of 7 total.
