USPSA Action Pistol Match 06/11/2022

Another awesome USPSA action pistol match in Lubbock, TX!  I was using my CZ USA SP-01 that I recently converted from a retired competition gun to a concealed carry gun and used my RFV Tactical concealed carry gear (in the waistband at the appendix position). Despite being the only person using actual concealed carry gear, I ended up in 5th place overall out of  38 total. The gun ran great, and my performance wasn't too bad (no brain farts!), so it was definitely a good day. 😀

Outlaw Action Pistol Match 05/28/2022

Another local outlaw action pistol match (USPSA rules with IDPA scoring). I definitely tried to push my speed a little bit, even though you can't really tell from the video. My accuracy didn't suffer too much, but it did suffer. I ended up in 2nd place Overall out of 20 shooters. I was shooting my Walther PDP with a Holosun 509T optic and an Inforce WILD2 weapon light in my RFV Tactical concealed carry gear.  The heat wasn't bad in the morning, but it got almost unbearable by the time we got done. At least it wasn't windy as hell like it was at the last match.  The PDP performed well, but I prematurely locked the slide back after the first round fired on the 2nd stage due to my high grip on the gun (and my big hands).  The slide lock/release lever on the PDP is very long, so I will most likely shorten it to work better with my high grip like I have done with all of my hammer fired CZ guns. While I love the PDP and I feel like it is absolutely the best striker fired gun on the market today, I still feel like I shoot the best with any of my CZs.

Outlaw Action Pistol Match 04/23/2022

This was an outlaw action pistol match (mostly USPSA rules) hosted by a new group of people trying to attract more people to their club/range.  I've competed in many matches at this facility, but they stopped having matches at this range several years ago due to the club's strict limitations on matches.  This is why the stages are very basic and we are only able to shoot into the back berm.  The match was better than I expected considering it was put on by people that don't have prior experience in action pistol matches, but were definitely some kinks that will need to be worked out.  I came in 1st place overall out of 12 total, so it was definitely a good day for me. I was shooting my old retired CZ SP-01 competition gun that I've recently updated for concealed carry usage by having the slide milled for a Holosun 509T red dot sight as well as adding a little heavier main spring and recoil spring to make it more appropriate for concealed carry.  It's been great to put this gun to use again, as it is a great shooter and is very reliable.

Outlaw Action Pistol Match 01/23/2022

It's been a while since I've been to an outdoor action pistol match due to the cold weather and "Rona".  This match is an "Outlaw" match because it was a mixture of IDPA and USPSA rules and scoring, and there were only 5 of us that showed up so we didn't even bother to keep score.  We basically just ran the same stage in different ways to get 6 stages in for the day.  Pretty much a practice day.  But since there aren't any scores published, let's just assume that I got all Alphas and won the match! 😆

I was shooting my new Walther PDP Compact with a Holosun 509T optic with my everyday concealed carry gear from RFV Tactical.  This PDP has surprised me to the point that it's all I've been carrying and shooting lately. It might even dethrone the CZ P-07 as king of all the compact carry guns!

USPSA Action Pistol Match 11/13/2021

Yep... I shot another new compact carry gun from concealment at this USPSA action pistol match. 😀 I picked up a couple of Smith & Wesson M&Ps as shop guns for RFV Tactical, a new optics ready Shield Plus and an optics ready Compact 4".  I installed Holosun optics on both guns and added an Apex Tactical trigger to the compact.  I have been really impressed with both guns, and plan to use them regularly in my daily concealed carry rotation and will also use the compact at matches from time to time. I came in 5th Overall (35 total), and I felt like my performance was pretty decent other than a few magazine reload fumbles, which is common for me when retrieving a magazine from concealment.

USPSA Action Pistol Match 10/09/2021

Another USPSA action pistol match with the good folks in Lubbock, TX.  I went back to shooting this match with my concealed carry gear because I was trying out a new carry gun... the Sig Sauer P320 XCarry RXP.  I had written off the Sig P320 long ago when they were having drop test failures and then quality control issues with the first rollout of the P365, but they've since worked out all those issues, and I picked up a P320 XCarry and a P365X as "shop guns" for RFV Tactical.  I must admit that I'm impressed with both guns, but at this match I could definitely tell that the P320 has more muzzle flip than my CZs, 2011s, and Glocks.  Its not a night and day difference by any means, but it is noticable to me.  I absolutely love the modularity of these guns, and I love that you can get them with an optic and night sights installed from the factory.  I textured the grip module of the XCarry, which I think looks great and is an improvement in grip compared to the factory texture.  I also plan to do a grip chop on a second XCarry grip module so that it will accept the shorter 15-round mags and will print less when carrying it concealed.

I ended up in 9th place overall out of 38 total at this match, which is pretty decent for me considering I was shooting from concealment and shooting a new gun for the first time. 😀

USPSA Action Pistol Match 09/25/2021

Okay, okay... I finally went back to using my competition gear at this USPSA action pistol match in Lubbock, TX today.  I used my CZ Shadow 2 with an Inforce WILD2 weapon mounted light.  I didn't install the light to add weight to the gun as it is heavy enough without the light (I even removed the batteries to shed some weight) but rather to use it with one of my RFV Tactical weapon light indexing holsters and universal fit mag carriers. Had a great time, with great people!  Came in 5th place out of 30 overall. 👍
